The Fete des Fleurs Autour des Icones was held from 9th to 11th July 2010  at the Eglise Anglicane St Bartholomew  (Anglican Church of St Bartholomew).  The English translation is Flower and Icon Festival.  Entrance is free.

The Flower Festival has been an annual tradition for some years now and is extremely popular with the public - both French and English as well as church members.  Traditional English teas of Scones with cream and Jam and Cucumber Sandwiches were served in the afternoons.

Musical entertainment was provided by Scottish bagpipers from Jersey. The flower displays were incredibly beautiful

This was a "must" for Jersey visitors and those with connections to the island as the icons are of the 12 Parish Saints of Jersey and the work of Karen Blampied.  Of course you did not have to come from Jersey to enjoy the icons and flowers!

The Icons

Karen Blampied

Karen's icons are beautiful and the result of months of painstaking work and the production of the twelve Parish Saint icons has been a huge undertaking.   You can read about Karen and her work on her website www.iconspirit.com and follow the progress of the icons.

Karen is artist in residence in churches in Jersey throughout the year and the dates and details are on the website.  Karen has far been working on the relevant parish icon in the churches of Jersey and this will continue for the remainder of 2010 culminating in a final exhbition.

As an example of Karen's work a picture of the Icon of St. Brelade is on the right of this page.
