Often people hesitate when considering getting married abroad, as they
think it must be even harder than planning their wedding at home. “Not
so!” says wedding planner Frank Damgaard. “The whole experience need not
be complicated, especially if you choose a wedding planner who is
familiar with the local customs and cultures, who speaks your language,
and with whom you have established a good rapport.” The Copenhagen-born
wedding planner and his wife, Grisel, who hails from Vermont, in the
North East of the US, are used to dealing with international clients who
select Monaco and French Riviera for their destination wedding.
“People are under a lot of stress when they are planning their wedding.
Of course, a lot of it is positive stress and excitement, but it can be
a challenging time nonetheless. There can be so much to take care of, so
many decisions to make, that couples (most of their clients are not
French) need to be able to depend on our local knowledge, not to mention
our French-language skills.” The Damgaards have been living and
working in the Monaco area since the early 80”s, and have amassed a
large quantity of professional contacts which make the entire process
smooth as silk.
“Monaco is a really international place – this is one of the reasons we
decided to make this our home, and to raise our children here. In
addition, the Côte d’Azur is famous for being a romantic area, with its
castles, beaches, beautiful French villages with magnificent views of
the Mediterranean Sea – not to mention the excellent reputation French
cuisine enjoys around the world. Plus, averaging 300 days of sun a year,
it is very popular with couples looking for a great venue for themselves
and their wedding guests. Don’t forget: Nice is France’s second largest
airport, so guests have no trouble finding flights to the South of
France for the wedding.”
Grisel adds: “We are often asked if we would ever move back to our
respective countries, Denmark and the US, and I always answer: “We
would, if we could only find a good reason to do so!” Monte-Carlo and
the surrounding area is cosmopolitan, exciting, safe, multi-cultural and
fun. Why move?”
