This centre piece of this huge shopping centre is the amazing Alinea - http://www.alinea.fr. This is a home store selling furniture, fitted kitchen, decor and garden furniture - Ikea style but different. It has a fabulous display floor full of room settings which is also the location for the restaurant. The goods are all on the lower floor. Fantastic lighting, cutlery, paintings, furniture and so on and so on and ....................
Should the children complain about this dedication to shopping they can be dropped off at "Woupi" which is a massive play room with activities for tots to teens.
The turn off to Cap Malo, which is at La Mézière, from the dual carriage way to Rennes, is clearly signposted. If you do drive past it on the way to Rennes, you can turn back and it is signposted on the side of the road going to Saint Malo too. Be careful as you turn off on the road going to Rennes side because once turned off, you have the option to go on to Ikea and the Route des Meubles but you need to double back on yourself and follow the sign to Cap Malo and not go back on the dual carriageway to go to Rennes. Just watch the signs closely.
Well what do you have at Cap Malo that makes it so awesome! There are 18 "boutiques" - which are really large stores selling all sorts of items from household decor and furniture to clothing, children's items etc. Including Alinea you have no less than five of those home shops so dear to female hearts such as Casa and Maison du Monde.

Ikea http://www.ikea.com/fr/fr/store/rennes Located at Pace on the way to Rennes from St. Malo and Nantes. The turn off is towards the end of the Route des Meubles. At the back of Ikea - you just follow the road around the building and you will see Cora - there is
This is a very modern and spectacular shopping centre where a Cora hypermarket is located plus various boutiques in the centre including clothes shops -Mim, Lulu Castagnette, Etam Lingerie, Camaïeu and Guy Degrenne (interior decor), - Outside on the industrial parc you will also find among other stores La Halle - cheap clothes and footwear Truffaut - lovely garden centre Aubert - baby things
There are many, many stores selling furniture, flooring and textiles as well as specialist building supplies along what was the old road to Rennes. This is named "La Route des Meubles" and deserves this name. I have never in my life seen so many furniture stores! From huge leather suite and furniture stores to garden specialists, contemporary furniture, lighting, tiling specialists, bathrooms, kitchens, interior decor to garden stores the choice is staggering !
Many a Channel Islander has discovered bargains along this road and the stores are so used to selling to their islands that they organise groupage transport of goods to the Channel Islands. The old road runs parallel to the dual carriageway into Rennes. Assuming you are driving from St. Malo – look out for the 24 kilometre to Rennes sign and after this take the turnoff to Vignoc and turn off right from the dual carriageway. Most of the subsequent turnoffs from the dual carriage way take you onto the old Rennes road. You can see this road running parallel from the dual carriage way from Vignoc onwards. The turnoff to Vignoc gets you there easily.
The Cap Malo Shopping Centre, Ikea and it's adjacent Opera Shopping Centre are to be found on the way to Rennes. The turnoff to Cap Malo is marked clearly on the dual carriageway.
